PROGRAM INFORMATION
Personalized Guidance Every Step of the Way
The programs offered at TWLC of Warren focus on language arts enrichment for students in grades 3 through 12, as well as tutoring in STEM fields and history/social studies. Students who need additional academic challenges beyond those covered in today’s classrooms will find TWLC of Warren provides the rigor and depth needed to advance to higher level reading, writing and analytic skills. Our premiere Total Language Arts program focuses on writing skills, along with deep critical reading, grammar, vocabulary and public speaking. Our goal is to strengthen students' analytic skills so they can be effective, engaged communicators in the classroom and beyond. Support and enrichment is available from elementary school through students enrolled in AP Language and Composition.
Starting in 2020, we began offering tutoring in STEM: mathematics, biology, chemistry and middle school science. Our math and science tutors are experienced NJ teachers who can support students in topics ranging from basic mathematics to high school biology. Additionally, we have tutors available to support students' success in elementary and middle school social studies and high school history, including AP History.
We currently offer online tutoring catered to the needs of each student. Online tutoring pairs live video feed with active, shared digital materials that make instruction seamless.
Sessions are structured either privately (1:1) or with a partner (2:1). Typically, individual students meet for weekly 45 minute sessions, but may also opt for one hour meetings. Partners meet with a teacher for weekly one hour sessions.
TWLC-Warren also offers Test Preparation support for SAT/ACT/SSAT/ISSE. In addition, we offer support for college essays and the application process.
All programs are taught by NJ certified teachers with advanced degrees who are experienced with Common Core Standards as well as the expectations for standardized exams.
TOTAL LANGUAGE ARTS LITERACY PROGRAM
Our Total Language Arts Literacy Program (Total LAL) provides students in grades 3 through 8 with in-depth exposure to reading and writing in fiction, non-fiction, and informational text. Vocabulary application and grammar skills are also an essential part of the weekly program. Students will develop public speaking skills through exposure to current events in news. Analysis of poetry and various art mediums are also integrated into Total LAL. Students are expected to complete approximately 1 ½ hours of homework each week to support development of the reading, writing, and oral speaking skills covered in each session.
STEM TUTORING
We offer private tutoring in science and mathematics on an ongoing or as needed basis. Sessions are personalized to support the success of your child within existing school curriculum and/or to challenge your child through supplementary enrichment. Available subject areas include elementary and middle school mathematics and science, biology, chemistry, and AP Biology.
HIGH SCHOOL LITERATURE AND LANGUAGE
High School Literature and Language (HS Lit & Lang) offers support to busy high school students who need to develop and master expository writing and analytical reading skills for courses across the curriculum. Students may prepare for placement in AP English courses by close examination of those titles and writing tasks found in the Advanced Placement Literature or Language and Composition courses.
COLLEGE APPLICATION ESSAY WORKSHOP
For many students, as well as families, the college application process causes stress and anxiety. The college application essay and supplements challenge our high school seniors at a time when maintaining high GPAs and completing required standardized tests are imperative. As a 12th grade Advanced Placement English teacher for more than two decades, I developed a six session workshop which assures students create dynamic and unique essay responses for both the Common Application and the wide range of college application supplements.
